Kevin's Priorities
Support the NHS
I am hugely committed in campaigning and supporting for the causes I believe in and first campaigned for hospitals in Suffolk as far back as 2005.
In my many years of public service, I have always believed in putting constituents first. Listen to the people who put you where you are. As your MP, I would be a strong high profile voice for change at a local and national level building on my years of working and campaigning in Ipswich and Suffolk.
Tackling the Cost of Living
As Rishi Sunak’s Tories pass blame around to everyone but themselves, working people are struggling to get by, with huge numbers of people in our area cutting back on food and energy, struggling to make ends meet.
I know from growing up in a family with very little money and an outside toilet, what it’s like to struggle. I know from first-hand experience what it’s like to see your parents worried about having enough money coming in. In Parliament, I would support the change we need to take off the pressure of the cost of living across Central Suffolk and North Ipswich.
Protecting our environment, creating opportunities and jobs from net zero
The environment is one of the things I care passionately about. Labour’s plans for GB Energy and investment into renewable energy will bring cheaper bills and more jobs to every part of the UK. I also promise you that I will continue to use every single opportunity as your MP to take on climate change deniers, polluters and those who don’t care about our planet.
Our area stands to benefit from green growth. We need a long-term plan to deal with flooding, clean up our water and environment, win the global race for green investment, strengthen our national energy security and achieve net zero. That’s the change Labour will deliver, all while bringing down energy bills and saving people money.
Cut NHS waiting times
Whilst the Conservatives had drinking parties inside Downing Street, I trained as a Volunteer Vaccinator with St John’s and helped administer the Covid-19 vaccine to people across the UK including working at the Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich. Labour is the only party that will save and sort out the NHS from the mess of 14 years of the Conservatives. Patients waiting hours for ambulances to arrive, waiting lists at record highs, people struggling even to see their GP and dentist. Our NHS is on its knees, brought down by 14 years of Conservative underinvestment and neglect. People I speak to across the constituency have just had enough.
Labour would put patients first, cutting waiting times and tackling the GP and dental crisis by recruiting 7,500 more doctors and 10,000 more nurses paid for by abolishing the non-dom tax status.
